TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) is designed to help people who suffer most from depression to start feeling better again.
4.8 Million Treatments Administered
Up to 80% of Patients See Improvement
65% of Patients See Full Remission
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation uses strong, magnetic pulses distributed through a coil to regulate the neural activity of brain structures associated with depression.
While you may feel slight pressure on top of your head, most patients adapt to the sensation after just a couple of sessions.
Rest assured, you do not have to start a new medication regimen throughout TMS.
An analysis of 1,753 patients showed that the average patient achieved a sustained response after just 16 treatments.
"Dr Sanjoy has been my psychiatrist for the last 3 years aswell as my daughter's psychiatrist. He has always responded to our medical needs promptly and with much patience. Whether it's a phone call which he always returns it on the same day or an appointment. I highly recommend him. He is very patient and a good listener."
"Dr.Sathpathy has been a gift to my family for the past 18 months. He was recommended to us by an acquaintance who said he saved her son's life. And I now feel the same about his treatment of my son. I agree with others who say he is extremely patient and a fantastic listener. He asks very specific questions that no one has ever asked before (and we've seen LOTS of professionals). He has been compassionate, caring, thoughtful, analytical, and humble. Dr. Sathpathy also considers any questions or outside suggestions without judgment or defensiveness, and explains his decisions backed with science and research. I would 100% recommend if your child is struggling."
"For the first time in 10 years of psychiatric care, I feel like I have found a Doctor who actually listens and cares about helping me. Dr. Sathpathy is amazing, and his staff are very friendly and efficient!"
Up to 80 % of patients who complete a full course of TMS show a clinically meaningful response and about 65% experience a full remission, meaning their symptoms go away completely
Sessions are about 20 minutes and you can drive to and from your appointments. The full course covered by insurance usually takes about 6-8 weeks to complete.
All major payers cover TMS treatment for Depression. If you've tried multiple antidepressants and therapy, there's a good chance your insurance covers it.
From an early age, my parents encouraged in me curiosity and inquisitiveness in humanity. This attracted me to the profession of psychiatry, which gave me the opportunity to have a positive impact on an individual. Empowering each patient is of my highest concern and make every effort to instill confidence and provide support through the healing process.
I attempt to incorporate all the resources in the community to provide my patients with the best possible treatment and outcome. I believe that Interventional Psychiatry has a prominent place in the field of mental health. I have seen patients who achieve partial remission or who would like options beyond medication and talk therapy such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS. Outside of work, my greatest pleasure is in spending time with my wife and two children. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and traveling.
I moved to San Diego from St. Louis, Missouri in 2018. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) in 2018 and my master’s degree as a nurse practitioner in 2024. I am certified as a psychiatric /mental health nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.I served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps, acquiring various nursing experiences. Much of my experience includes work in the inpatient psychiatric/mental health unit, where I treated patients with chronic and persistent mental health disorders. In addition, I have extensive nursing experience working in medical-surgical units.
I am skilled in treating patients with various concerns, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Alongside medication, I believe there are many tools used to address mental health concerns. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as exploring the San Diego area.
I’m Kathleen Satriano, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I earned my Master’s degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California. During my nursing studies, I developed a deep passion for working with mental health patients, which led me to begin my career at an inpatient psychiatric facility immediately after earning my BSN. I spent 11 years in this setting, including three years on the child/adolescent inpatient unit and eight years in the admissions department, assessing patients across all age groups.
Additionally, for 2 years I had the privilege of contributing to a research program focused on early-onset psychosis and for 3 years I worked as a clinical adjunct for PLNU's School of Nursing guiding senior nursing students through their mental health rotation. Before becoming a PMHNP, I gained extensive experience in mental health nursing, where I saw firsthand the challenges patients face in accessing proper care. This drove me to pursue my PMHNP certification to have a greater impact on my patients’ well-being. Currently, I provide care for children, adolescents, and adults dealing with a range of psychiatric conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more.
I graduated as a Nurse Practitioner with a master’s degree in 2022. I obtained my bachelor’s in nursing degree in 2011 and Bachelor of Arts in 2008 which focused on Third World Development.
